FYI: Lockheed To Provide Phones For Romania BUCHAREST -- (Reuters) Romania's telecommunications operator Romtelecom said on Monday that an accord it signed with U.S. company Lockheed Martin Telecommunications would provide satellite links for villages with no telephones. It said 3,931 villages would be equipped with up to three telephone lines. The network is expected to be installed in a period of nine to 18 months after the contract comes into force. In the first phase, investment needed for the project will be some $13 million. The agreement was signed during Romania's President Emil Constantinescu's visit to the United States earlier this month.
