The real problem that Bruce Lindsey has is that he can not know everything that has been said by other witnesses. Judging from the length of some of the appearances of other witnesses there must be tens of thousands of pages of testimony and corroboration. Even though these guys are smart, it takes only one lie for everything to start unraveling under these circumstances. As lawyers both Slick and Bruce know this and they are justifiably scared. The devil is in the details.

<<<<<<Now, Bruce Lindsey must testify. Like Web Hubbell, he should know where "all the bodies are
buried".>>>>>>

How is this for a cute trick(a la slickster)
Bruce Lindsey quits his job as lawyer for the government and hires on as the slicksters personal lawyer. Now he is unable to testify about anything he knows. What a deal.. he is home freee.
