Yes, but, believe it or not, some new people come here with the actual hope of seeing an intelligent in depth discussion of the pros and cons, and they don't take well to being told that, no, that's only on the Information Thread, whereas this is....this is...what IS this anyway?

I know that, and you know that. However, thread postings make strong, often lasting, impressions on newcomers who incorporate the postings into their DD.

Myself, I would certainly check out thread postings in addition to all other DD sources. I would be remiss and less than thorough if I didn't.
