I remember one of our "experts" on the thread saying that anyone can sell their shares at anytime to anyone else directly - just not over the exchange. The SEC did not "freeze their assets".

True. My point, though, was that I imagine once the halt was called, a potential vendor would prefer to wait to finalize the deal until he knew what the stock would be worth when trading resumed.
