"Concern about the high cost of commercially available membranes (about $600 per m2, equivalent to nearly $100/kW) led Ballard to develop a proprietary, partially fluorinated PE material. At present, polymer resin is produced by Ballard in-house and then fabricated into "BAM" (Ballard Advanced Material) membranes by vendors."
