Slider,

Is there enough blood in the street and doomsayers to start buying yet?
______
13:00 ET Dow -212, Nasdaq -56, S&P -28.84: Broad-based capitulation as Acampora's market observation gets placed on a growing list of items lending to investor negativity... Preceding his correction call were the cautionary comments from Alan Greenspan, ongoing concerns over earnings prospects, lingering skepticism pertaining to Japan's reform efforts, Barton Biggs' 20%-30% correction call, and a strengthening dollar... Would note that 15 of 30 Dow components are now trading below their 200-day moving averages... At current pace, Dow -300 not out of the question before session's end given the dearth of buying interest, and the lack of anything positive for investors to focus on... DJTA -92.10... DJUA -3.54... SOX -7.51.

Recent action in the OSX -- huge declines on huge volume on top of a 50% plunge in 3 months -- convinces me that we are at or very close to a final capitulation bottom. Broad market still has a lot of downside work to do, but the OSX massacre is nearly finished

A few days ago I opined that the OSX would drop another 10-20% by October. Well we have already. dropped almost 10%. Oil is not gold -- the powers that be know the dangers of excessively low oil prices..

While I do think we are close to bottom, best not to count on anything more than a modest bounce in the near future. Stocks could base down here for quite some time. Patience may be required to participate in the next big bull run for this group. But the upside potential is so great, I am willing to wait.
