I DO like ORCTF as well. I know you enough from reading all your post's that you didn't just pick ORCTF over WSTL willy-nilly. I haven't taken my eyes off the DSL sector for a second and you're right when you say I didn't choose Orckit over Westell "willy-nilly." Orckit is well positioned with GTE which gives it a head-start against its US-based competitors, and now with positive word out of Europe -- that they'll get a major slice of the first award from the GlobalOne stalwart --- I don't see a lot of downside from here. I've actually heard two different versions: one says there will be three winners for this award ---- the first will get 50%, the second 30% and the third 20% --- with Orckit number one and Siemens number two. (No one mentioned for third.) The second version says Orckit's the winner, with no percentages or second and third positions mentioned. After building up relationships within the industry for three years, I have a lot more confidence in the verity of the second version --- even though both sources are solid. One just happens to have shorter wires. As you well know, my sources could be wrong and even if they're right, no one knows the timing. I'm content to take a position and wait it out. I believe ADSL is the only viable means for telcos to compete in the high-speed bandwidth arena and Orckit is an early winner. I don't know where Westell stands other than there was some talk of them abandoning TI chips in favor of ADI. Now that DSC is part of Alcatel and BA and GTE have merged, where does that put them? I would also want to know where they stand re: ATM over ADSL. Every company I watch, with the possible exception of LU, has stated their plans in this regard. It's true ADSL is telcos' primary answer to the bandwidth crunch, but the importance of upgrading telecommunications systems is more than a matter of speed as luxury. Anthony Maher, recently promoted to Sr. VP of Siemens Public Communications Group, writes on the importance of broadband to world economies: w2.siemens.de Since my Amati days, I've become more catholic and now have stock in CMTO --- a cable company --- as well as my DSL plays, primarily TXN and now ORCTF. In a secondary sense, NN's also a DSL play in that their 36170 beefs up the backbone so it can be deployed. I'm also a huge fan of Efficient Networks, a private ATM over ADSL company out of Dallas, TX. How's that for a complete update. Well, for complete disclosure, I also have ADI. No stones left unturned. Good to hear from you and glad you're still watching. Later -- Pat
