Gary, that doesn't mean the company knows you exist. Your broker forwards those things to you. But, I don't know the answer. 300 sounds awful low, though. A question for a company IR dept. perhaps?

Gary, You are not a shareholder of record, period. Unless you have registered the shares in your name, and you would certainly know this, the shares are in the street name and your broker simply forwards any company releases and proxies. Sure you can vote, but the company doesn't know who you are until you vote. Typically, shareholders of record have the physical piece of paper, although there may be some change in this. Having shares in a cash acct vs margin is irrelevant to this issue.
