I think they were referring to the single stage 64 port switch, especially if you look at the total nodes in the fabric. CERN actually mentions evaluating an Ancor 8 port switch on their site, but I can't tell if it third or fourth generation architecture. I am betting third. Hopefully we are going to see both new product and deal announcements very soon.

Walt,

After seeing the MKII, it seems clear that Ancor would not necessarily be limited to multiples of 8 ports. Because they use 4 ports per ASIC, I think they could develop switches in multiples of 4. I don't know how practical it would be, but I could envision something as small as a 4-port switch, using a single custom ASIC. Another possibility would be to use one ASIC in a Fibre Channel to Ethernet gateway.
