After posting this here and on the Yahoo board, some people on the Yahoo board brought up some interesting coincidences regarding the time of the trials for the Portico carriers and the trials regardin Motorola's service.

Also I found it interesting back in May that there were no Chicago area carriers listed in the press release. But Motorola is testing in Chicago. Hmmmm...

they might not be competitors after all...

Another potential player in this market ...
could be Connectsoft Inc.

Connectsoft has been going through a lot of changes, and was recently sold by parent AUGI to Executive Telecard (EXTL). They have/had a technology they were calling FreeAgent which also sort of played in the arena of voice based assistants.

The CSoft web site is way out of date ... and EXTL has been pretty quiet.
