Ka-ching$$$ This has to be a plus for 3dfx since they had a decent lawsuit against Sega, having done R&D for their console. If the suit was settled (clearly not dismissed), 3dfx must have gotten some amount of compensation. A little more cash for the coffers? Either that or some concessions to try to get Banshee as an alternative for PVRSG in Sega's new WinCE system? One would assume DirectX is used for the Sega platform so in principle they aren't locked into any specific graphics chip.

Any prognostication on how the lawsuit settlement might sit with investors? Speculators? Current shareholders? Current Shorts?

My gut says, "I'm glad it is settled." One distraction put to bed. And if there is any sort of monetary settlement then all the better.

So the lawsuit is settled...my conspirical reasoning (?):

-Sega will soon be making money! Dreamcast looks pretty good, and better to settle now than when they actually have money!

-Would guess that there is money involved. From everything that I know, Sega was in the wrong. Should see dollars...

-In any event, it is one less thing to worry about.

Could be a nice one time gain? Perhaps a fair settlement would be, oh, how about... FIFTY MIL!!! :P
