Ok, last conspiracy theory, but boy is it a hummer:

The reason that there have been no cardmaker announcements is that TDFX is going to make the cards themselves! Forget the future stuff, it is happening now! (my own rumor)

They have put off announcements knowing that a lawsuit settlement was near? This would give them enough cash to buy a cardmaker and still have plenty in the bank?

As the lawsuit settlement grew closer, TDFX backed out of any deals with cardmakers, hence CREAF pulling the Banshee deal?

Perhaps TDFX is so confident of OEM wins because they are doing it themselves?

What about Miro? Perhaps they and others will make the board for European distribution. They have better channels there than TDFX or other card makers. And perhaps the Europeans prefer to buy from local manufacturers? Perhaps the duty on a full card is excessive, and just shipping chips is more profitable...

We shall see...

"As Voodoo 2 prices continue to drop, it's hard to get terribly excited about
Voodoo Banshee. From the start it was designed specifically to not be a
Voodoo 2 killer, and it isn't. But it may end up being a compelling option for
those who want a low-cost, integrated graphics card that's great for games"

This is the most foolish thing that this remarkably crappy site has ever put up. Their own benchmarks show
that it is faster than V2 for most things. It will have the fastest 2d available. And it will cost less than V2, so
that comment about V2 prices dropping is moot. I don't know if I should thank them for pushing the
company line that "V2 is first with gamers, then banshee..." but I am pretty pissed about the fact that you
can't get excited about it. Hell, everybody and their brother are so "excited" about the Savage, Millenia,
and, of course, TNT they can barely contain themselves...

They do have a good set of benchmarks though..

And we look good compared to TNT...except in Q2; but everybody who cares about max frames in Q2 has a
V2. Rather than buy a TNT, they would be much better off getting SLI!
