8/4 API Says U.S. Crude Oil Inventories Increased 1.876 Mln Bbls

Washington, Aug. 4 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. crude oil inventories
increased by 1.876 million barrels to 343.5 million barrels in the
week ended July 31, the American Petroleum Institute said in its
latest weekly report.

The latest API figures show U.S. crude oil inventories are

U.S. gasoline inventories declined by 0.145 million barrels to
219.5 million barrels week on week, and were up 27.549 million
barrels compared with the same time a year ago.

Distillate stocks, which include heating oil and diesel fuel,
were up 2.058 million barrels at 145.0 million barrels compared
with the previous week. Against the previous year, distillate
inventories increased by 23.5 million barrels, the API said.

Residual fuel oil inventories stood at 38.8 million barrels
week ended July 31, up 0.323 million barrels from the previous
week. Residual fuel oil inventories were 36.3 million barrels
the previous year.

Weekly imports of crude oil to the U.S. decreased by 0.1 million
barrels a day to 8.7 million b/d. Last year the U.S. imported
7.8 million b/d of foreign crude.

U.S. refineries operated at 99.0% of capacity, compared with
99.7% during the previous week, and 97.1% at the same time a year
