Fuzazi, Those who are looking for reasons to sell are frequently put into the "weak hands" category. Of course today there were many weak hands as the Dow fell almost 300 points (3rd largest point drop in history) and NASDAQ was down over 65 (2nd largest point drop in history) on almost 1 Billion shares. Biotechs were also hit hard, with the two groups listed by SI dropping over 3% each (the smaller Biotechs fell almost 4% - techstocks.com ). LGND's drop of 1/4 point was rather small today.

VICL was at $18 a few weeks ago and it hit 10 1/2 today, while AMLN was today's biggest % loser among the larger Biotechs:

CNBC just indicated that "Biotechnology was down 4.2% today."

weak hands are the ones that started selling @ $15

btw, the spin never stops. It may be true that todays drop in the dow was the 3rd largest in history, however when that statment is made without pointing out that percentage wise todays drop in the dow doesn't even rank in the top 20, well thats just misrepresentation. It would also be reasonable to point out that the dow is still up 7% YTD and the NAZ 10% -- Not bad really.
