miss penni, I really envy you getting a cold front in Dallas. We won't get one until mid-September. Weren't you down to the low nineties today? And didn't you get rain? I'll bet you are beginning to think about buying a pumpkin and starting to stack cordwood.

Penni, the wife and I are considering becoming foster parents. So yesterday we attended one of these foster/adopted parent classes. In the state of Washington you are required to attend 18 hours of class along with a lot of other things to become eligible. I was surprised to learn the following during our indoctrination.

If you are a grandparent and because of whatever reasons are raising your grandchild for the parents, and you our wealthy enough so as to not be eligible for state assistance. Then you can sign up and become a foster parent to those children and the state of Washington will pay nearly a thousand dollars a month to raise your grandchildren. So in effect, you could be a millionaire, have a screwed up daughter, decide to raise the grandkids yourself, and the state will pay for it.

The instructors were actually putting this out at training as a skillful technique. I wonder how much of the Child Welfare and Protection budget is eatin up this way?
