The Xau did fade into the closing decline but it ended up with a 2% gain. This is rather impressive in light of the severity of the much deserved selloff. And, more importantly, it may signal the very beginning of a paradigm shift. Whereas traditionally they have treated the XAU components as justanother group of stocks, there may be a small and growing number that look to the gold majors as a flight to safety. That would be a way of thinking which has not been seen for a while.
