(Nasdaq: GBIT) announced today that its computer systems contract with Lockheed Martin Federal Systems, Inc. (NYSE: LMT) has been increased by $3.9 million to $10.2 million. Under terms of the original one-year contract, GBIT had initial orders for 5,600 systems, which were to generate anticipated revenues of approximately $6.3 million. Global Intellicom entered into the contract with Lockheed to provide Pentium computer systems to support the implementation of new delivery confirmation systems for the US Postal Service. As part of Lockheed's $218 million government contract, the new system is being deployed in over 38,000 postal facilities nationwide by year-end. It provides for 300,000 hand held scanner (called Mobile Data Collection Devices), communications cradles, and office computer systems. This program is a major initiative by the USPS to improve package delivery capability and enhance customer service.
