This needs the test of accuracy and truth by independent market survey. Don't believe Chambers. He is a SALESMAN, he might say that he sold you your own car.

On the other hand, I laughed my head off at Cisco's press release
this afternoon about overtaking Ascend in market share in the
dialup market. Sounds to me like Cisco was spooked by the
Stratus deal. Sure, Cisco may have a lead in dialup if you count
units shipped, but Ascend still ships a lot more ports per unit (or
per rack) than anything Cisco is shipping. Let's see Cisco compare
port share, or dollars. Better yet, how about ports per cubic meter?
Cisco does make great routers, and always has, but Chambers is
stretching further and further to try to claim he's ahead of Mory in
remote access. Remember how he preached doom and gloom
about Ascend buying Cascade? Maybe we should track the Cisco
Shrill Index.

Immi,

I knew that when you posted that news about CSCO's share in dial access you would get a number of unhappy posts. I've learned to not post too much CSCO good news here. Most ASND'rs don't like to learn of competitors success. Sorry gang...it's true. We should all be giving CSCO a pat on the back for a great quarter...hopefully holding up the sector today and looking forward to the battle at hand.
