Actually, the consensus opinion I heard from the so called experts yesterday is that the market decline is due to the fact that earnings growth is showing signs of slowing. The only way the market can support an average PE of 25 is is earnings are growing at 10% or more. At 5%, most stocks are overpriced. Where will money flow? To stocks that have not tripled already in defiance of any logic. To stocks that are trading at a reasonable price/PE like 15 or lower. (HDIE,CMP or RENT) In a boom market, it is fine to go with the high flyers. When things get rocky, seek value.
