wow, this was a big surprise (G)

I like how DELL claimed they just continue to squeeze out inefficiencies in order to lower prices (gotta protect those stock options as long as possible). COMPETITION made them lower prices. These cuts were not out of the kindness of their hearts. Prices will continue to drop just as they have for the last 2 qtrs. Sooner or later even DELL-option-holding execs will have to admit that competition is eating away at their margins.

Dell cuts some notebook/desktop PC prices
ROUND ROCK, Texas, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Dell Computer Corp., the world's leading direct seller of computers, said on Wednesday it cut prices on selected configurations of its Latitude notebook and OptiPlex desktop personal computers.
The price cuts range up to 10 percent for Latitude and up to 17 percent on OptiPlex.

''The price cuts are due to a combination of component cost reductions and efficiencies of Dell's build-to-customer-order structure,'' said Joe Marengi, senior vice president of Dell's relationship group, in a statement.

I thought Apca... would say 200000 today. No, he said "God helps me!" on Bloomberg TV this morning. Huh? Has he become a priest? :-)

WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE TO BECOME A TA

I think this might be interesting to both camps and related to DELL, so I do not put it as OT.

Here is what you need to believe to become a Technical analyst (TA):

OVERBOUGHT/OVERSOLD: you don't believe one can eat 100 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

MOVING AVERAGE (MA): you believe that you go to North Pole for 5 days, and then Hawaii for 5 days are the same as staying at home for 10 days.

HEAD/SHOULDER: it would be in-human that you have a one shoulder blow-up.

RESISTANCE/SUPPORT: There is always a sky and a floor.

BOLINGER BAND: The raging caged animal will not get out his cage when the door is open, and he hits the wall of the cage with equal probability.

ELLIOT WAVE: The world is made from some simple forms. What you need to do is to find them.

ON THE VOLUME: when you stuck in the traffic, you know either something happens or wrong timing.

KEY REVERSAL: you got your wish.

PS. the last one is not well thought. When I first came to this country, to become a TA (teaching asistant) was hard. I managed to become a RA and finished school.
