All states (and most foreign countries) require that it be recycled or otherwise properly disposed of. Despite these restrictions, roughly 20% of used oil generated is improperly disposed of in landfills or elsewhere, constituting a potentially hazardous waste that is considered a serious environmental problem. Presently, approximately 1 billion gallons of waste motor oil is collected annually in the United States (five billion gallons world-wide), mostly by small companies. . . .<< Maybe we can say it was a typo??
