Gizelle, Hate 'em both. Compaq is way overpriced given the rosiest scenario of their earnings and growth in the future. Why? See Bill Fleckensteins article (Eddie Gammon's note above has the URL). Lying only lasts so long and even the bulls eventually catch on. I hope.

3 Com is not as overvalued as CPQ and if you used analyst estimates, a horrible idea in any situation, it would be a screaming buy. But I disagree with those estimates and think this combination of a commodity networking co. and a commodity modem co. is going to have a tough time growing eps at any time in the future. Those markets are simply an idea whose time has gone. So, though the stock is hardly grotesquely overvalued, I think it may be pricey based upon a realistic look at the business.
