tom,

Both Dell, Gateway, do business in SE Asia. As does Compaq, H-P, IBM, TI, lets see...who am I missing. Dell has a major presence here and has their regional hub right here in Malaysia. Dell, Compaq, and H-P fight it out with ACER for branded dominance while a host of "off brands" capture a lot of market playing to the inscrutable Asian practice of seeking a deal. Brand names like "Leo" (Taiwan) and "Ranger" (also Taiwan) are large here as well and usually sell at least 10% the global brands mentioned above. Their is a CompAsia here in malaysia with no relationship to CompUSA other then to have ripped off their name and logo colors. They have several stores and are looking to start up franchise operations...an effort likely to be slowed down by the last years events here. Of all the big braqnds I think Dell is doing better then most and have captured remarkable share in SE Asia. because of the delay in catching up with fallen currencies I was able to buy a Dell Inspiron 266MHz notebook about 3 weeks ago for about 280 bucks less then the listed price in the U.S. web page.

Best,
Stitch
