You don't know how the US interests were served by Mobutu? That's a laugh! no, seriously, look up the history and analysis of the AFDL rebellion and/or any late 80s or 90s article/journal paper on the US and mobutu. post-independence congolese politics has been filled with american intervention. the history and connection is too long to describe. i highly recommend doing this research if you are interested in the politics of the DRC and central africa. i am truly surprised by your position. imran
