Gene, >>>"They are more interested in the brand of the computer system than in the chip," he said. "Intel should definitely be concerned about this."<<<

It is not the brand name of the computer system or the chip that is important. It is the architecture that is really important.

When Vox Analyst, Journalists or Populi start voicing AMD or Cyrix Architecture then start to worry. Otherwise, let them eat consumer PCs. That is not where money is to be made for either manufacturers or investors.

SSI II is where the momentum players are heading. Dell, HP, Silicon Graphics, SUNW, Compaq, Microsoft are all heading towards Server Side Include Intel Inside, the next momentum play for the billion connected computer paradigm.

I don't know that I can accept such a slam dunk opinion. Too me technology is the winner and it is innovation not brand name. The market moves far too quickly. If Compaq does not keep up with the latest then brand name aint gonna get it done.

No need to argue endlessly about it though. The bottom line will tell.
