Major Legal Technology Show Debuts in New York, September 17-18 09:21 a.m. Aug 05, 1998 Eastern
LITTLE FALLS, N.J., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Legal Works New York '98, a new educational conference and exhibit on technology applications for lawyers, will be presented on September 17-18 at the New York Hilton and Towers. The show is sponsored by major companies and presented by Glasser LegalWorks, of Little Falls, NJ, an information and education company.
The program presents a series of workshops on special technology applications for law offices featuring lectures by a wide cross section of more than 90 experts. The interactive presentations at the workshops are tied into the exhibit of over 100 booths where the registrants will have an opportunity to view technology products from more than 75 companies and have them demonstrated.
The format is based on the highly acclaimed San Francisco Legal Works show. This show has attracted 6,000 registrants in its first two years.
The conference features three tracks -- Internet Opportunities, Integrating Technology, and Litigation. There are multiple sessions on the new world of high tech litigation ranging from seminars on creating and challenging high tech courtroom presentations to electronic filings. Six workshops will cover various aspects of collaboration with clients from using e-mail to interactive groupware tools and other devices. In four workshops the focus will be on Intranet and Extranet usage for collaboration, communication, marketing and research.
Pre-registration for the conference is available at $249, a $50 savings. The fee includes the choice of 30 seminars, luncheon reception, course materials, CD-ROM, and free use of a personal digital assistant throughout the meeting. Free admission to the exhibit hall is available to pre-registrants; door registration is $20. To register for Legal Works New York '98, call Glasser LegalWorks at 800-308-1700; or fax, 973-890-0042; or e-mail, legalwks@aol.com; or mail to 150 Clove Road, Little Falls, NJ 07424.
Twenty leading companies led by founding sponsors -- West Group, Bowne, Uniscribe Professional Services, Inc., Citibank, Arthur Andersen, Hildebrandt and Microsoft -- are sponsoring various events and activities at the show.
The keynote luncheon session will feature the general counsel of four companies -- Roberta R. Katz, Vice President and General Counsel, Netscape Communications Corporation; John M. Liftin, General Counsel, The Prudential Insurance Company of America; Richard J. Rawson, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Lucent Technologies; and Andrew B. Steinberg, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, The Sabre Group. They will preview the next generation of technology for the legal market and discuss how their companies are collaborating with law firms on legal work. The luncheon session will be chaired by Bradford W. Hildebrandt, Chairman and Founder of Hildebrandt.
Another highlight of Legal Works New York '98 is "hands on" participation at the Internet Training Center, Electronic Filing Center and Virtual Electronic Courtroom. These centers will provide an opportunity to obtain in-depth instruction on research technology and resources available on the Internet as well as taking advantage of the wired courtroom to present a case more effectively.
