GENE THERAPY Since my last message on gene therapy, I have established that there are probably not more than 4 groups working in this area and ED. This is based on published literature. IMO the group of Dr Christ is well ahead and the others are dabbling a bit. I cannot exclude the possibility that there is secret work ongoing, however I doubt it. You might recall the recent message of gdtech on the yahoo thread; he said he talked to an AZA employee and amongst other things this employee said there was a big player working on ED gene therapy, and was almost mocking about Vivus' efforts. I am not doubting gdtech, rather the quality of the information given by his informant - other have done this also. Finally I reproduce a kind E-mail message to me from George Christ that confirms the involvement of Vivus in gene therapy. I should add that I warned Dr Christ that I would be sharing any information he gave me with other investors. Hi David: Thanks for your continued enthusiasm for this work. Yes, I can indeed confirm that I have a formal relationship with VIVUS. I am a consultant for VIVUS and I am very much involved in their gene therapy program. We are currently in the process of conducting the preclinical studies required for decision making, more than that I cannot tell you. However, based on the published data I share your enthusiasm, and I am, therefore, optimistic about the possibilities. I agree with all of your conclusions. It is clear to me that you have a very firm understanding of the overall idea, and your train of thought is right on target. Take care.
