Non Random Notes

1. Ampex's raise of 14 million on July 20 was prescient on Bramson's part. Get the money while its available..when the market tanks, some good stuff will be available.

2. My guess is the quarter will turn out to be better than folks anticipate.. Not great..just better than current psychology.

3. Micronet(per last weeks sec filing) did 32.7 million in revenues in 1997 and as cash flow break even. Less in r and d costs and lower litigation costs means higher revenues from acquisitions and higher earnings from current operations which will set up nicer quarter to quarter comparisons for the 3q and 4th q.

4. Wild Cards---Playoff for PIP begins Sept 10 in US Court of appeals federal circuit. Certainly no positive value reflected at all in todays price. A win there suggests license fees for the PIP feature in the 200 million TV sets sold in the US each year. Not a bad speculation from here.

Another Wild Card---new licenses in Digital TV, Video Games and additional digital camcorder mfr. I bet the additional digital camcorder licenses are in hand because the debt financing and preferred exchange suggests a known of growing royalty income on the part of the buyers.

Another wild card--CNN bought the DST machine for commercials archiving only--they are due to digitize their entire content library---Ampex is in there...a multimillion dollar order for numerous additional DST is not necessarily a fantasy..just not able to be predicted on a quarterly basis.
