Even at 30 these recent acquisitions look foolishly expensive compared to what Lycos and other portals are putting together.

Amazon.com HAD a real strength in their Associate network. Now they have cast their fate in concrete and have no other choice, IMO, but to rape the associate relationships like some ungrateful lover.

Everyone talks about building an "internet neighborhood" as being a key to success. Amazon.com actually had a great start at doing that - the best on the net. Now they have castrated that opportunity. I hope the associates listen - they will see the effects of managements blunders and VC enrichment program when their commissions are cut to 3%! These are "words of Wisdom" coming from me, Rob S., a career independent manufacturer's representative who has given speeches on the subject of representative rip offs by arrogant company owners/managers.

To Amazon.rippedoffAssociates.com; You have been ripped!
