Jeff, when I look at the "tape" via InternetTrader I see many trades in the 100 - 500 range, as well as the large blocks you referred to. If someone's offer to buy at a price higher than the ask did not go through, I would focus my suspicion on their (electonic) broker. Were they all using the same broker? If more than one broker, could the brokers involved all be using the same clearing house (if that is the proper term)? It seems to be more of a localized problem, based on the data provided by InternetTrader.
