I'm not a fan of Acampora, and have never even bought a stock through a full-service broker. The only analyst reports I've ever read seriously were written by a woman I used to date.

One thing about Acampora, however. He did write and circulate "Dow 7000" back when -- anybody here trading back then? only a few years ago -- the Dow had just broken 4000. To call for the market to nearly double without a major correction, at that time, was quite shocking, yet it was also convincing, and it happened just as he said. Thus his influence today.

Anyone with a modest knowledge of Wall Street history knows that guys like Acampora come along every few years, are absolutely correct about the market once or for a short while, and thereafter live off their reputations and go on to make all the same number of mistakes as everybody else. What's the big deal here?

If you think this guy has lost you money (and money, not hypocrisy, is the only thing you should care about when it comes to the stock market) you are mistaken. When you make money, who's the genius, you or some analyst who wrote a nice report about your company a month earlier? Same when you lose!
