<off topic> Yes that is right and it is as we say on the last earned crown. Meaning that there's deductions too. If one haven't deductions over 200K DKK a year - and most do not - then the tax of what you earn there is 50%+ - over 300K DKK a year 68%. (7DKK=1$). Works like this: 9% general tax of all earnings - then on your so called taxable income you pay an escalating % from 38-68%. The taxable income is your total income minus the deductions, which are: Direct losses from shares/bonds, 40% (only!=) of interest expenses, direct costs in connection with work (clothes/union/and general transportation cocts), cash payment into IRA-type-pensionfund(pt.max 32K/year), certain types of life insurance. In addition to taxable income comes: If you have a company car 3-8K DKK a month depending on purchase price of car, Value of company phone/housing, and worst of all rental value of own house depending on house value (That is paying tax 68% of 8% of your house value). Why is it like that - we are 5.1 mm people - 380 tousand are involved with work that direct brings money into the country/add value to the land - Natural resources are limited to naturalgas and oil from the North Sea. Almost one million are in services - and 800 tousand are public employees. Doctors and hospitals are mainly free - we do have pay hospitals for those who want to get in front of a queue. There are good subsidies to the dentist-bill and special doctors. Only cosmetic surgery is not free unless one have a psycological problem (A normal sized breast a-c is no cause for free treatment, biggies can be as they may put unnecessary strain to the back but then it is not considered cosmetic) Do you think that was it regarding tax - it isn't: Value added tax VAT at sales: 25% Special TAX on many things. eg. cars 180% yes onehoundred and eighty. Like this: price of car 100 - add 25% VAT - add 180% special tax and you have the price on the street with the license plate on. yes 2/3 of a cars price on the street is TAX. ---- Now many may ask, Why do we stay - Well the community works - The political system works - The productive system works actually rather good (No room for errors or unnecessary excessive costs). The wages are of course build up with the taxation. So actually everyone could be happy. Many people start own business and govt programmes support that.
