jbn3......re: MM tricks .... nice explanation. You put it so succinctly. All the more reason to stay long with DELL. (I did buy more.... but missed the rock bottom prices).

I only had my intuition and recollection of another situation. Remember a couple weeks ago (maybe less) when everyone wondered why GTW was up in the morning and Dell was down... My comment then was that somebody (MM) wanted DELL at a bargain price.. I believe later in the day GTW was referred to as dead cat bounce.

If you look at a 5 min candlestick chart from yesterday.... You can see the major selling starting around 2:50 with the volume accelerating. The highest volume started the buying about hour later when the price was about 98 1/2. Between 3:10 and 3:50 it shot back up to over 106.

It seems to me that MM's can 'see' were the stop losses are set. They know what's in the transaction queues (via the computers). There are probably some limitations they work within; but with lots of latitutde. Certainly would be nice to know an MM (to have these explained.... from the horses mouth, so to speak).

Thanks for your reply
