Here's just ONE example of one group wanting to buy into the IP Telephony Market because of time-to-market issues...

German group to invest billions in Internet telephoning

FRANKFURT (March 8, 1998 09:54 a.m. EST nando.net) -

Deutsche Telekom is planning to commit billions in "Internet telephony" functions, a magazine report said on Sunday.

An advance copy of a report to be published in the news magazine Focus on Monday said Telekom would buy in technology in the United States, Japan and Hong Kong this year.

The management board has recommended investment of more than $18 billion in technology currently available which allows telephone connections to be routed over the Internet, Focus said.

One reason for the rush is that U.S. firm AT&T is already due to bring an offer for Internet telephony onto the market in the next few months.

This offer means that every telephone call -- whether to Berlin or Australia -- would cost several cents per minute, the magazine said.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, although I think this group of smaller VOIP stocks has at least one more run left in them some time over the next 6 months. VOCLF is getting VERY TEMPTING at $9 a share !!!!
