Hi George,

At a certain point I wonder how much the news items that supposedly account for market movements are pure nonsense in the realm of wild speculation. The on again, off again "Asian crisis" is hardly a reasonable explanation. The Nikkei is trading at higher levels than it was when the Dow was making new highs every day a few months ago. It doesn't really seem to be a bull/bear market anymore, just bull/bear sectors that move North or South on whim. It starts looking more like organized gambling every day.

It looks like the MMs are going to keep teasing the magic 4 1/8 margin call level until they have stolen all the cheep shares they can get their hands on. Nasty business.

I have a question about yields. If yields are poor on the new .25 micron process, who takes the hit? It seems to me that S3 would agree to accept delivery at an agreed upon unit price and it would be the foundry's problem on how efficiently they produce the units. Is that wrong?

IBM rumors seem to be running hot and heavy over on the Yahoo thread, with lots of talk about take overs, and huge business deals in the works. It sure would be interesting if they worked out a deal where S3 could use IBMs new chip process that supposedly increases performance by 35% with a lot less heat.

I still think there's enough good news waiting to happen all around S3, that one of these days this poor kicked pup is going to break out like a bad dog covered with teeth. We'll see.

Regards,

Don
