Betty, I received a message from Astra today that made me feel sick at first, but perhaps I have misunderstood it. An excerpt from my message to Mr Widell, > To: Mikael.Widell@astra.se.astra.com > Subject: RE: Muse > > Dear Mr Widell, > > Thanks again for your prompt replies to my queries yesterday. > Regarding approvals for sale of muse could you confirm that Astra > now have approval in UK, Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland and > Sweden. There are not any other countries yet approved for Astra are > there? > > Is it possible to know in which of these countries muse is now being > sold, I know UK and Sweden, what about the other countries? > > I am from UK and I know from enquiring at pharmacists that muse is > selling well. It was reported that muse was in the top 5 best ever > drug releases in the UK - can you confirm this and provide any > further information? > > You will see that what I am leading up to is trying to discover what > muse sales are in the UK. Given the high contribution of overseas > sales to Vivus' last quarter figures I know they must be good - but > how good? Any chance that you could give me some indication, if not > the actual figures? And his reply to me, "Yes, it is correct that Muse has been approved in those countries mentioned by you. So far, it is only on sale in the UK and Sweden. The other countries will follow in Q3 most likely. Saleswise, it has done quite well in the UK, considering the short time it has been on the market, roughly 30 MSEK up and including June. We have no official figures for Sweden yet. Sincerely, Mikael Widell" **** Now 30MSEK is 3.8 M american dollars. In the Vivus last quarter report overseas revenues was 9.8 M American dollars. Essentially all the sales are from the UK (+ Sweden recently, 10% population size of UK), Janssen have either not yet started or are just starting in S. Africa and there is no indication that they have started in S. Korea. Might Mr Widell have given me Astra revenue, In which case can you suggest an intelligent question that I can ask him to clarify the situation - or maybe you could E-mail him yourself. Given what you know can you work out from the 30MSEK exactly how many units might have been sold (in UK). DaiS
