Nice quarter. Unfortunately Ms. Strohm rained on the parade:
''Looking forward to fiscal 1999, we are projecting earnings of $0.18 - $0.23 per share,''

That would be flat to slightly up from this year. Hardly the kind of growth most people would look for in a speculative turnaround stock...

GENTNER COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION

Announces Investor Relations Conference Call

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Gentner Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: GTNR) today
announced that it will be holding an investor relations conference call on Tuesday, August 11, 1998 at 4:00 p.m.
Eastern Standard Time. To make a reservation to participate in the call, dial 800-289-1879 or 801-974-3700.
Gentner will rebroadcast the call through its WebCast service via broadcast.com(R), which can be accessed at the
companies Web site, gentner.com.

In anticipation of the conference call, Gentner has prepared a comparative analysis of fiscal 1998 results versus
fiscal 1999 projections. For the year ended June 30, 1998, Gentner reported earnings per share of $0.18. During
fiscal 1998, Gentner enjoyed tax-loss carryforwards that resulted in the company paying no tax for that year. Had
Gentner been in a taxable situation in fiscal 1998, earnings would have been $0.11 per share.

Earnings projections for fiscal 1999, based on net income after taxes, are $0.18 - $0.23 per share. These numbers
are based on net revenue projections of $21.5 - $23.5 million, representing a 25 - 30 percent increase in net
revenue over fiscal 1998.

The projection of $0.18 - $0.23 for fiscal 1999 represents an earnings-per-share increase of between 64 and 100
percent, as compared to fiscal 1998, had the tax-loss carryforwards not been available for that year.

Gentner Communications Corporation provides technology, service and educational solutions for U.S. and
international markets. The company has a wide product and service mix featuring remote facilities management
systems, audio conferencing products, and a nationwide conference calling service.
