OK JLA, I'll respond.

Believe me, I read your posts with great interest.

I've tried voting Republican as the lesser of two evils, and also voting Libertarian to show my protest, but all to no avail. Almost all the politicians seem to just want more and more power, and to Hell with the constitution.

On the Libertarian thread I proposed the "Flat Tax Party" as a step in the right direction. I think there would be a better chance of educating the public in one specific area. If the flat tax replaced all the others, it would make it more difficult for politicians to bamboozle the people in the economic area, and the benefits of such a step would begin to show almost immediately, thus leading the way to other reforms such as privatization of Social Security.

Unfortunately, there may be so many people who believe government programs actually work, that they would be unwilling to give up their particular payoff for such a movement.

Sorry for going on so long, but I hope you get my drift. ER
