Bean ET AL,

MTU = Maximum transmission unit. This is the largest packet size
used. What you guys just did is adjust your MTU so you won't send
and receive anything larger then that. If you have a 56K or < line
that is fine. If you are on ISDN or anything larger and you it is
not congested then 1500 would be faster. The congestion is when
the large packet gets slowed down by the high bandwidth usage.
Smaller packets always get through faster, especially if your ISP
is using fair weight queuing.
