Hang Seng broke to new lows.

Read the title of this thread.

The Waiting is OVER!

Also selling pressure on the HK dollar. It's still not clear that there will be a "Big Kahuna" (in the US market) if that means a crash. A a slow bear market of varying degrees of severity is just as possible from now on. In 1929 the initial selloff was 15% in four weeks. In 87 7% in the same period. This time 10% in two weeks. The speed gives me the suspicion that a large one day crash (eg. 1500 Dow points) isn't coming up. But it could be...

I don't think the Hang Seng is so relevant for the Dow at the
moment (unlike last year). What is very relevant, and this may
be what you implied, is the threat of a Chinese devaluation that
is behind the fall.

Problem: Do we really know what the Chinese are up to? Their
actions often don't comply with Western logic. The Western
media certainly have no clue. There was talk that Clinton
struck a deal with China. But all of this is just based on
hearsay and rumor.

Any thoughts?

Any bets of what event will trigger the crash of 1998?

1. China devaluing

2. Nikkei crashing below 14000 (or by 10%)

3. Monica

4. Interest rate rise or tomorrow's employment report

5. War with Iraq

6. Russian economy collapsing

7. Aliens landing on Earth or none-of-the-above.

My order at the moment: 1/2/7.

Cheers,

Phil

P.S.: This morning's buy-the-dip rally was pretty short-lived.
