...add to this the document management features of searchability, OCR (Capture), version control and security (digital signatures/tamper proof) and you've also got the makings for a revolutionary way to make the "paperless office" actually become a reality! Xerox appears to have chosen PDF for as the core for their document management solutions - that should tell you something. I'm experimenting with integrating PDFs with a relational database to automate our printing workflow. Our customers can send PDFs right thru the their browser - no need for FTP or email attachments - from there on, the document is tracked right thru the printing process. Acrobat/PDF is GREAT technology. No one has anything that is even on the horizon to compete with it.
