To all - this morning seems like (at least for some of us) a good time to dish out a lot of "take that, Tero" (ttT ?).

I find it interesting to consider who I have perceived to be the enemy.

First, I thought it was MOT. Then, I learned more about wireless (mostly from reading stuff right here). It was clear that MOT is not "the enemy," although I still cannot believe they think they own the patent on anything that folds in half.

Then, I thought it was ERICY and NOK.A.

But, now I think it is only ERICY (even though I am a bit sick and tired of reading about how great those pink covers on Nokia handsets are).

Any thoughts out there?

Jon.

If I can find the time, I hope to watch at least part of the Qcom-Ericy trial (it's not too far from Dallas, as I recall) and report to the thread. (A Dallas tassle loafer.) It's supposed to be early this fall.

About The forthcoming trial. How can Ericsson not agree to sign
a licence for CDMA 2000.Could it be so simple that Ericsson believes
they have a strong case arguing that QCOM is infringing on their patents. If that is the case and if the QCOM guys have not been totally
truthful with Gregg about how strong case they have that could
explain something.I am sure that Ericsson is not going to court if they
are sure to loose. If they win QCOM will be in a rather difficult
position when they have used their own patents as blackmail. If
Ericsson wins and says to QCOM that they will not licence their
patent to QCOM they can just close down the shop. The W-CDMA
standard is not finalized so they have the possibilities to change the
standard so they don't infring on QCOMS patents. In IS-95 already
millions of phones are sold so they can't change that standard in any
big way and still keep it compatible with the old phones.
Maurice raving about that Ericsson will steal QCOM:s patents is not relevant .Of course they can't steal any patents. If they did that they
would be stopped from selling their goods in more or less any country.
Except China maybe.
