DD on INTD -- InteliData Technologies Corporation
Exchange: NASDAQ
Current Quote: Bid: 1 1/32 - Ask: 1 3/32
Change: +3/8

I bought this stock as a momo at 1 5/32 today after learning about it through the #daytraders channel. After holding for a few hours, I've decided not to sell today and hold this as a possible LT winner. What I'm posting here is what DD I've been able to do on the company so far, and I would appreciate any comments as to the quality of this stock in the long term.

I believe INTD is NASDAQ-listed (not OTC:BB), so I hope it qualifies for posting on this thread (ie: not a penny). If not, I apologize.

Company description (from MS Investor):
InteliData develops products that primarily support Caller ID, a telephone service allowing subscribers to view the names and numbers of calling parties before answering calls. InteliData sells its products through retailers and telephone companies. The firm also makes electronic commerce software (including Interpose Financial Engine & MoneyClip) and software that supports Touchtone bill payments. Its Intelifone-brand smart telephones allow consumers to send and receive text such as e-mail and banking information. InteliData was formed from US Order's 1996 purchase of Colonial Data Technologies.

Reason for today's move...
Good earnings news for 2Q 1998 came out after the bell yesterday. A conference call held yesterday afternoon produced yet more positive vibes. According to the CC, EPS was expected to be a loss of 12 to 14 cents. It turned out to be a loss of only 3 cents, versus 5 cents loss during the last quarter.

Conference Call: 1-800-633-8284
CC Passcode: 4581234

If you don't have time to listen to the call, a post on Yahoo provided a nice summary. I will reprint that post below, or you can link to it directly at:

messages.yahoo.com@m2.yahoo.com

I urge each and every one of you to listen in on the conference call that is referenced in their press release. some highlights:

* right now they have about 8 million in cash - and they expect that to grow.

* they are considering a MAJOR stock buyback (10-20%) - only considering it, but they realize that at these prices, it only makes sense.

* each new home banking sale has a recurring licensing fee of 15-18%, so they have guaranteed income from every sale, as long as the bank keep using it.

* in addition to the mid-atlantic and BBT deal, they have 5, count 'em 5, unannounced deals that have a combined income of $4 million.

* fixed operating costs of 3.2 million a quarter, plus they wrote down ALL the future costs of shutting down the telco business, so they should easily turn a profit next Q.

* book value: no update on the book value, but they mentioned that their book value is misleading since they do not carry their 16 million investment in HFN on their balance sheet. All told, they really have about $1/share in cash...

* in addition to the 5 unannounced banking deals, they also have an arrangement with IBM as far as a joint venture in sales of the home banking, and with Citibank.

* they say that MSFT really supports them and that they plan to continue to have a good working relationship with them.

Overall - it was the best news I have heard from them in a while. Their backlog of business looks real good, and as long as they can actually do the work, and keep their current banks, while winning new ones, they look to have turned the corner.

Do not take my word for it, please call and listen for yourself, there are things that i didn't mention that are also good news, but i can't
remember everything. Interesting to see how the street reacts today.

Look at this chart...

bigcharts.com

This looks like a turn-around situation to me, and my unqualified opinion is that this may have been the beginning of a long-term recovery. The 52 week high is 5 3/8 and the stock appears to have traded around $10 when it first hit the market two years ago.

Looking forward to comments, opinions and further DD...
