This happens a lot in all stocks. The biggest reason is for the market makers to cover some of their shorts at a lower price. If they know the demand for the stock is high and will be going up they want to cover their shorts so they don't lose their money.
Also once the last sellers get out and drive the stock down, then any buying pressure rockets the stock because there are no more sellers. And then the momentum feeds off of it and everyone wants to get in for the ride. This can bolt a stock 50-100% very quickly
