Disk drive supply seen tightening - SoundView SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 6 (Reuters) - SoundView Financial Group analyst Tom Cal said that there is a tightening of some disk drive products in the distribution channel, according to one of the big computer distributors. Cal said CHS Electronics Inc told analysts on its second quarter earnings conference call that they are starting to see some shortages of disk drives of three and four gigabytes. ''Based on this, drives may be coming into a tighter supply balance,'' Cal said. He said the news could be good for disk drive makers such as Seagate Technology Inc (SEG - news) and Quantum Corp (QNTM - news).
