A mini-version of this is what I believe happened yesterday afternoon. Good point.

Stockjet, a MM sitting their with millions in Dell stock, and big profits, can start to sell his stock. He knows that he has enough stock to trade that his actions will cause the stock's price to drop on the open market. While he is selling, and the stock is dropping, investor panic and sell out. This gives the MM the opportunity to buy cheap shares. When Dell releases a good earnings report, the stock should climb and the MM makes out big time.

THREAD: what i don't understand is whether and how the MMs may collaborate to move in step with one another...since i would think they compete w/one another...while i agree they would like us to forget about earnings coming up and sell now so they can get back in and get another great round trip out of dell, can someone please explain how they get together...or do they??

perhaps each MM has enough volume by itself to move dell?

someone mentioned the other day that the big MMs weren't buying dell yet...have they by now? would someone post where one can see the MM activity day by day? thanks, GR
