Cabletron Systems, a leader in providing high-performance computer networking solutions, announced new, all inclusive computer connectivity packages for K-12 schools. The new K-12 SmartSolutions encompass hardware, software and training solutions designed to address the growing need for computer-based learning, but lack of network funding.

"Cabletron's new network bundles clearly indicate that they understand the fundamental needs and requirements of today's progressive K-12 schools," said Paul R. Feltner II, district technology coordinator, Laurel County Board of Education, Kentucky. "Modern day, technology-based applications must be taught in today's classrooms in order to prepare students for tomorrow's work force. Cabletron's new SmartSolutions offer the best devices to get the job done."

I don't think it is likely they will be out of business any time soon. They have about 300 million in cash and short-term investments. Even if they were to have year over year losses of one dollar per share, the cash would last two years. Surely even Benson would sell out if it began to look that bad. It seems extremely unlikely to me that they could fail to get at least $18/share on a sell-out. At current prices, it's hard for me to see how a long-term investor can lose money on CS. Just the opinion of an inexperienced investor, so don't bet your money on it. Just let me bet mine.
Sign me impatient and disgruntled like many of us.
