As you know, this once (formerly big) advantage is (likely) decreasing with every quarter that Dell outgrows CPQ....I wonder how big an advantage CPQ will have in 2/3 years when Dell is equal/approaching equal in overall unit sales? <G>

Points 1, 2 and possibly 3 itemized in your post are under intense assault since CPQ has successfully reduced inventory pipeline from 6 to 2 weeks (CNBC today). Of course DELLs advantage (<1wk) still remains.

Some market watchers insist that CPQs position as market leader is more formidable than ever.

The picture for the whole PC industry looks ever so rosy however.
