There are two sides to every issue. I don't want idiots carrying guns or criminals using them. We just had a local case where a woman was threatened by her boyfriend. She wanted a handgun but had to wait and he came back. He took his sweet time killing her, two hours. He was a law enforcement officer so he isn't eligible for the death penalty.

I live in the country and the police may be an hour away. I'm scared that a waiting period will be the open door to confiscation. It's not unusual that my wife wakes me because we have a problem in the barn, quite often solved with a gun. Gun control should be a local issue and not controlled by the feds.

Well Ms. Michelle Harris,

I didn't mean to offend you. I am sorry. My point was simply this. Anyone at any time can buy a gun from somewhere. Think of it like drugs. They are illegal. That does not stop people from buying and using them. Anyone using them is engaging in a criminal act. This is no deterrent. If all guns were to suddenly disappear, knife sales would skyrocket. I guess then knives would become suspect. It's a never ending cycle. The problem is not the guns. The problem is the people who point them.

Have a good day.

alan w aka one the fanatics.

ps, I haven't been called names in a while.

We were discussing the Brady Bill initially.

Actually, I'm afraid I started this off again by expressing my utter sadness seeing that poor shattered hulk of man Jim Brady trotted out in front of the public to push a questionable policy.

I blame his wife for putting him on center stage again and again to be gawked at, and turned into a pity object.

And it's a typical example of Clinton using the weak for his own political ends.
