Global chips sales down again--Larry I wouldn't stay long the semi stocks when Applied materials reports early next week . Should be interesting . JIM

From briefing:16:00 ET Intel (INTC) and Micron (MU) 87 +2 7/8 & 35 +9/16. In response to our earlier comments that Intel and Micron are going up on no "solid fundamental news" we would like to recognize that readers have reminded us that there have been reports lately that Intel is seeing increased demand, particularly for higher margin products, and today, D.A. Davidson ( a small firm headquartered in Montana) put out a positive report on Micron, saying "we are beginning to see signs that a major inflation point in the DRAM market may have been reached." This is all true, but the hard data isn't there yet, and the reports and other "soft news" seems to be having more of an impact simply because sentiment has picked up.
